Most arrogant and not helpful employee at the customer support team for german speaking clients. Wrote them, they offered me help. After replying to an other agent intervened and told the other one not to help.

Visa cash machines suck

I have been exposed to fraud 4 times in the last 10 years while using a cash machine. The last time 2 weeks ago and now I have to wait several weeks to get my money back. Visa Europe is a thief. This world is insane.

Completely Ignore by the Visa Ivory Tower

I desperately wanted to cancel a Visa credit card transaction a couple of days ago and because I could not get through to my bank on the phone, I emailed Visa Europe to ask for assistance in canceling the payment. The reason was that the service I was receiving from the merchant was complete rubbish, which I told him several times.

Now I know Visa Europe are a little bit above this level of dispute but a courteous company might have made a quick call on my behalf to the bank or indeed cancelled the transaction themselves.

But not so, they did not even answer my email (any of them!), much less put them selves out by cancelling the transaction. So thanks for nothing Visa Europe. I don’t know what you do all day in your ivory tower but you don’t much care about your customers that’s for sure.

So VISA had a breakdown in their system…

So VISA had a breakdown in their system last night, Like hundreds of thousands of others my payment was declined. This morning they apologised BUT what they failed to say was that debit cards WERE debited with the amount of the purchase made. My supplier confirmed it was declined but my Bank confirmed that it was authorised by them and it was VISA that declined the payment. My Bank balance has been reduced because of this purchase and I am expected wait between 3 and 5 days before that money MIGHT BE returned to my account. BE HONEST VISA ABOUT THIS PROBLEM AND WARN YOUR CUSTOMERS THAT THIS HAS HAPPENED and they will need to check their statements.UNTIL this money has been returned to their accounts. If it hasn’t been returned they do not want you to contact them but speak to the supplier who took your card details. A bit of a cop out I think. They caused the problem they should sort it out.

With a 2.75% charge applied to non-Sterling purchases, VISA doesn’t seem satisfied with the fact that it creates money out of thin air and charges the ordinary people on that manufactured money. Try buying anything outside the UK with your VISA card and you can add almost 3% to the purchase price. If you thought the fun stops there, understand that VISA also gives you a lower exchange rate on the purchase price than the actual daily currency exchange rate. Today, for example, the GBP to EUR exchange rate is 1.13 euros to the pound. Yet VISA only gives you 1.09 euros to the pound.

Adding all this up. If you purchased a 1000 euro item online in Germany today using your VISA card, you can expect to pay 1027.50 euros for it. When paying your credit card bill in pounds you’ll be paying £942.66 for an item that is worth £884.95. Or £57.71 more than the purchase price. That’s a price increase – or ‘charge’ – of 5.77% just for the honour of using their plastic.

*****Thankfully, there are credit card companies that DON’T charge you non-Sterling transaction fees. With these, you can buy items and services in euros, adding 0% to the purchase price. You can find these by searching the phrase ‘moneysavingexpert Travel Money Card Credit Eligibility Calculator’. This will give you a comparison between card providers who charge 0% and your likelihood of having the card application approved.
